20-inch Upper Builds Are A Must-Have!

A 20" barrel on an AR-15 or LR-308 brings several distinct advantages, particularly for shooters focused on long-range accuracy, ballistic performance, and versatility. The increased barrel length allows for more complete combustion of the powder within the cartridge, resulting in higher muzzle velocities. This leads to flatter bullet trajectories and improved accuracy at extended ranges. For target shooting or hunting, this can make a significant difference in consistent precision beyond 300 yards.

For an AR-15 chambered in 5.56 NATO, the 20" barrel enhances the bullet's velocity and effective range, making it ideal for long-distance applications such as varmint hunting, competition, or shooting in open areas. The higher velocity also translates to increased terminal ballistics, meaning the bullet retains more energy on impact, which can be advantageous in defensive or hunting situations.

In the case of the LR-308 chambered in .308 Winchester, the benefits are even more pronounced. A 20" barrel allows the .308 round to achieve optimal ballistic performance, delivering better energy retention and knockdown power at greater distances. This makes it well-suited for hunting larger game or for long-range target shooting, where precision and energy on target are critical factors.

While a longer barrel does add some weight and may reduce maneuverability in tight spaces, the trade-off is well worth it for shooters who prioritize range, accuracy, and ballistic performance. For both platforms, a 20" barrel strikes a balance between versatility and enhanced long-range capability.
