Something that should be part of everyone's Every-Day-Carry is a good knife. A knife can be useful anywhere, whether you are at home, at work, or in the mountains.
I have a small, stainless steel Buck knife that I use every day for various things such as opening boxes, cutting bailing twine, and removing splinters. I never go anywhere without it, and it always serves me well (as long as I remember to sharpen it, that is).
Knives can also be a great indicator of your personality. Do you prefer expensive, flashy ones with detailed handles and intricate patterns? Or do you have a simple knife from a random gas station that you never have to worry about losing or damaging?
If you are not already in the habit of carrying a knife, now is an excellent time to start.
