best glock upgrades [improving your trigger]

A guide to improving your Glock trigger

There are several ways to improve the function of a Glock trigger assembly depending on what you want to achieve. Here are a few suggestions:

1. Upgrading the Trigger Connector, Trigger Bar, or Both

Installing an upgraded connector can change trigger pull weight and feel. The purpose of the trigger connector is to move the sear down and away from the striker with each trigger pull. As the slide moves back, the connector is pulled out of the way to allow the trigger bar to go back into place and catch the striker.

Changing out the connector gives the builder the ability to make adjustments to their trigger pull weight and pull length.

2. Upgrading the Trigger Shoe

If you want a more consistent trigger pull you can try installing a trigger shoe. Finding a trigger shoe design that is most comfortable for you can help with developing a consistent trigger pull and improve your overall accuracy.

One of the more important things when selecting a firearm is how comfortable it feels when you’re operating it. Upgrading your trigger shoe could be all you need to get a more consistent trigger pull. If you’re running a curved trigger but you think a flat-faced trigger feels better (or vice-versa) swap it out!

3. Polishing the Trigger Components

For a more tactile and crisp trigger break, consider polishing the trigger components in places where two components rub against each other. This will remove any roughness or burrs that can cause the trigger to feel gritty or uneven. Polishing the contact surfaces on your trigger components has become commonly referred to as ‘the 25-cent trigger job’. (A more detailed article will be available soon about how to do your own 25-cent trigger job.)

4. Upgrading your Springs

If you want to customize your trigger pull weights, you can try playing with spring upgrade options like installing a heavier trigger spring. This will reduce the force required to activate the trigger. Additional springs that can be changed include a reduced power firing pin safety spring, and/or a lighter firing pin spring.

Note: When changing spring weights, it is important to try out different spring weights to find which works best for your shooting preferences, your firearm function, and reliability. 5. Full Trigger Assembly Upgrade

If you’re looking for a full trigger assembly upgrade, or if you’re looking to build a souped-up pistol from the ground up using your P80 frame or another aftermarket frame, there are plenty of options for incredible trigger assembly upgrades such as the SPSR Lightening Tap Trigger, or the Timney Alpha Glock Competition Trigger.

They both have unique features and enhancements designed to do everything from eliminating or cutting down on uptake, reducing trigger pull weight, and having a more abrupt “wall” or “break”.

Ensuring Safety and Reliability

It is important to note that modifying the trigger of a firearm can affect its safety and reliability, so it is always best to consult a professional gunsmith or the manufacturer before making any changes. Additionally, if you are planning to use the gun for self-defense or competition shooting, it is important to test the modified trigger thoroughly to ensure that it meets your needs and performs as expected.
