General Barrel Info: The Barrel on an AR-15 pistol operates through a 'gas impingement' system, where gas is tapped from off from the barrel and cycle back through a connected gas system, to help the bolt carrier in unlocking, and extracting a spent cartridge. Pistol length AR-15 barrels come in two gas lengths, Pistol & Carbine. AR-15 Pistol barrels can be chambered in a variety of different calibers, spanning from rifle to pistol cartridges. Thanks to the modularity of the AR-15 platform, your next pistol will be incredibly easy.

About This Barrel: The Barrel is made by MMC Armory it is 14.5" long, and is machined from 4150 Chrome Moly Vanadium and finished in a Phosphate appearance. Chambered for 5.56 NATO, using a M4 HBAR profile design, this barrel will fit your next AR-15 build perfectly.

About the Profile: M4 HBAR - This barrel utilizes the benefits of HBAR barrels and combined it style with the fore-end of M4-Government Profile barrels.

Barrel Classification: Pistol

Length: This Barrel is designated as a pistol length barrel with an overall length of 14.5".

Caliber: 5.56NATO - This barrel is chambered to fire both 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington, the most commonly used round designed for the AR-15 platform.

Material: 4150 CrMoV - Chrome-Moly Vanadium, or simply "CMV", is the official mil-spec gun steel developed by Colt Firearms for the military-issued M16 and M4. It contains the same elements as 4150 steel. It also contains Vanadium. Vanadium significantly increases the strength, hardness, and high-temperature stability of the steel.

Finish: Phosphate - Manganese Phosphate finishes are used on barrels to protect against corrosion and wear. Manganese Phosphate finished is considered for its toughness, and is used in multiple different applications such as aerospace, ordnance, and other firearms-related parts.

Thread Pitch: 1/2x28 - This threading is commonly found on barrels chambered in 5.56, .223, and .224. This will allow the installation of most muzzle devices such as flash hiders, blast cans, and compensators threaded to 1/2x28 threads.

Chrome Lined: Chrome Lined barrels have the added property of increased corrosion resistance in the bore from the hot gasses, powder, external elements, & friction from the projectile. Chrome lining is generally preferred for automatic fire as the chrome lining will protect the bore of the barrel during extended use.

Chrome Bore and ChamberOne of the first modifications that were made to the original M16 in the mid 1960's was the addition of the chrome lined bore and chamber. It is now a world wide standard in the firearms industry for a battle rifle. The chrome bore and chamber is harder than the barrel steel and on the AR rifles will aid in chambering, extraction, and reliability. It increases velocity, and also resist against fouling and corrosion from extended use in the field. This gives the end user a longer barrel life with less required time in maintenance and cleaning.

HPT / MP Inspected Barrels: Military specifications require that barrels undergo a HPT (High-Pressure Test) load as a part of quality assurance procedures. Commonly referred to as a proof load, the M197 is rated for 70,000 psi. This barrel is proof loaded and then MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspected) to detect any possible flaws in the barrels surface. This barrel is MP inspected with both circular and longitudinal magnetic fields to assure a high quality finished product.
