Building on your last nerve

There have been many times that my mom has told me that I am on her last nerve. When I was younger, I didn't really understand what that meant. That was before I built my first AR though. Even after scrounging up all of the right tools, it still made me want to cry in frustration because the little parts were not cooperating no matter how many times I told them to. I eventually had to walk away and come back later, and I am glad that I took a step back and chilled out because now I have a beautiful AR that shoots flawlessly. The end may not have justified the means, but it was a welcome life lesson in the end.

With everything going on right now, it seems that the world is coming to the end of its nerves. With all of the social distancing going on and the quarantining, I know a lot of people are getting bored in their own homes. So, why not put your own AR together? We here at Delta have builds in all different calibers that you can put together for that fateful day that you can finally go out and shoot it for the first time. Find hand picked deals below for you guys and even more savings on our website!

Flexing artistic muscles

I tend to err on the side of optimism most of the time. I am not saying that I haven’t gotten more jaded in my old age with things, but I do try to look for the silver lining. One thing that I appreciate about our quarantine life right now is the opportunity many are taking to focus on art. Art is something that I never really attempted to pursue until I was in my 30’s "I’m 37 I’m not old" (comment on Facebook, Instagram, or our blog which movie that quote is from and let everyone know you are awesome) but flexing my artistic muscles has been very beneficial and impactful on my life in a positive way. I started with woodworking, largely working with broken skateboards. I chose those because I love skateboarding and have skated for 25 years, but also my niece as dating a sponsored skater so I had a free supply of wood. Since I was broke at the time, a free supply of wood was very nice as I couldn’t afford to buy any.

Since woodworking I have allowed this to expand to: digital graphics, photography, video production, painting and, my new favorite, block printing. Block printing is where you hand carve a design backwards on either a piece of plywood or linoleum, roll out ink, and press a piece of paper onto the design to transfer the image correctly. It’s like painting backwards with knives instead of brushes, which I find more manly. Pursuing art, mostly on a recreational level (some have solicited commissioned pieces from me commercially) has been a paradigm shift to allow me to see the world differently. I hope the art projects others create during this quarantine time will help them experience a similar paradigm shift as I experienced.?

Fresh Prince of Shipping Orders

Back in the day one of my favorite shows was the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air featuring Will Smith. In one episode Will decides to sow his artistic and entrepreneurial oats and create a book titled “Celebrity Houses at Night.” Well, the publisher wasn’t super interested in his book but was interested in a photo of Jay Leno pouring out coffee that was sold to a tabloid which spun the story as Jay Leno pouring oil down the sewer and being a massive polluter of the environment. Will saved the day by sneaking on to The Tonight Show to clear Jay’s good name and set the matter straight.

Why do I share this moment of 90’s sitcom history? Well, it was the first thought I had after I heard we were starting a night shipping shift and like a song that I can’t get out of my head (Bombshell by Operation Ivy is the actual song stuck in my head this moment), I also cannot get this episode from playing on repeat in my brain when I think about night shipping. But the important thing is Thursday-Friday morning was our first official night shift of 2020. So what this means we will be busting out orders much much faster, so our shipping times right now are NOT reflecting the night shift and we will let those working vampire hours get caught up before we allow those shipping times to reflect the extra orders going out.

We keep getting asked if we are open, Yes we are, yes we are taking precautions, we closed our retail store to spend more time focusing on shipping out your web orders. Yes at the moment we have been flooded with orders and we are getting to them as fast as we can, and that is why we added the night shift and that is why Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was mentioned in this post. Have a great weekend and stay safe out there.?

Sharing is caring... unless it is ammo

If there is anything I learned growing up as the youngest and having two sisters, it's that it is better to have two of something rather than one because people don't like to share. The same thing goes for my adult life. Everytime my husband buys a new upper, I also want one so that we can go shoot them for the first time together. I recently found out that the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) also has this problem, which is why Mother Nature made two of them. Yes, two!

The lesser known Aurora Australis (Southern Lights) acts just like its northern counterpart, but shines on the other side of the world! So, if you have this issue of wanting something, but needing to get more than one because your spouse is weird, check out the deals we have for you below and on the site. Save money and appease your spouse all in the same shopping trip.

Finish Your Build Kit Infomercial

Delta Team Tactical is known for its upper build kits, and one of the questions we frequently get asked is what else do I need to complete by build. This line of questioning lead to us developing out an entire product line category called the Finish Your Build Kits.We have developed these for rifle, pistol, AR-15, LR-308, and a whole bunch of calibers. The Finish Your Build Kits are aggressively priced and are a bargain compared to sourcing all the parts individually.Plus it makes the whole process of sourcing parts super convenient.

Chicken Span

A coworker of ours, the brilliant Jay, and I were talking about all of the different directions that people's attention seems to be getting called to. We would love to see more photos of what you guys are doing while we are in this social distancing thing, so make sure to take a photo and tag us!

Stay prepared

My husband and I went to a popular surplus store recently and we ended up getting there about 40 minutes early and still had people in line in front of us to get in. As I stood there drinking my Emergen-C mixture, a lady from the store came up to us and was talking about check out procedures. Someone behind us asked if they had toilet paper and she said no. I kid you not, at least 6-7 people left the line because that is all they came for.

We talked about it in the store and on the way home about how important it is to be prepared because you never know when something will not be available. I know we are not supposed to go outside right now due to social distancing, so it is a good thing that Delta is online. Check out the deals below and the site for that amazing deal that you can't pass up because you never know how long it will be in stock.

Customer service PSA

We would like to take a moment and provide you our customers with a PSA about our customer service.  We know there have been issues with receiving responses and even more with phone calls being answered.  We have been aware of this problem for awhile.  While this is a dynamic and diverse issue, the starting point for this issue was in the customer service software we were using. I am not here to trash another company’s services, but we did outgrow that platform. The amount of traffic we had on that software literally overwhelmed it to where it would not work and would not pick up calls even when agents were available, and emails were getting lost. This issue with our customer service software has been a problem, but it is a good problem to have because you, the customer, has chosen to do business with us. This is the type of problem we would prefer to solve. We apologize for any inconvenience to any of you that had a poor experience with this.  We thank you for the opportunity to solve this problem, we know others are not as fortunate.

I am not making excuses, but we are in the final stages of completing our transition to a new, more robust customer service platform. We know this is not the ideal time to do this, but this has been in the works for several months and we made the decision to push through and get onto the new platform. We ask for your patience during this week as it will take us a minute to completely transition and get the new software organized, but this will be a tremendous benefit in the long run and will enable us to respond much faster and provide a higher level of customer experience. Thank you for your loyalty and your business we greatly appreciate it, and we look forward to being able to better serve you our customers in the future.

Fun fact about sharks

Another fun fact for you guys! Did you know that Greenland sharks can live for up to 5 centuries? They take care of themselves by swimming slow and only growing about a centimeter a year! Similar to the sharks, if you take care of your upper, it can last for a very long time as well. We here at Delta love to give you guys quality builds that are easy to take care of. Who knows, maybe you can have an AR that can last for 500 years as it gets passed from family member to family member.

Stir-crazy

We were talking in the office the other day and it seems that we each know someone who is already going stir-crazy and they haven't been in complete lockdown. We also know some people that have hardly had to change their habits ever since the Coronavirus showed up. We were talking about what people would be doing with the whole 'stand at least 6 feet away from the nearest human being', so why don't you guys tell us?

Old dogs and new tricks

There is an old saying that states that you can't teach an old dog new tricks. As someone who has constantly been surprised by what people can do when they put their minds to it, it never really made much sense. Especially during this time of quarantine, there will probably never be another time that so much time is present, so why not learn something new? It could be something completely different such as learning a new language or learning a new hobby or it could be delving even deeper into a hobby that you are passionate about.

There is always a chance that you will find something that you like to do that you most likely would not have given a second glance before. I mean, if people can still find rubber ducks in the ocean from a shipwreck in 1992, there is a possibility that you will find something new to love. So check out the deals below and think about what you can do this quarantine to teach a new trick to an old dog.

Non-American apple pie

I learned a fact today that I thought I would share with you guys cause it just might blow your minds just as it did mine. Let's start with the stereotypical american scene shall we? American flag being flown by a bald eagle and people below it with some holding guns, some holding burgers, some holding beers and some holding pies. Apple pies to be exact.

Today I learned that not only was apple pie originally not made with sugar.. I also learned that it is not even american at all! Nope! It was originally created in England! Made from:
apples, figs, raisins, pears and a pastry shell, the recipe was first written down by Geoffrey Chaucer way back in 1381. So, while it may be americanized now, the country's favorite pie is in fact a british treat.

Mother Nature forgot the sun

We made it you guys. Today is officially the first day of spring! Nothing from here on except sunny skies and fair weather and nice warm temperatures right? Nope. Even though it is the first day of spring, someone forgot to tell Mother Nature because it is still below 40 degrees here where the office is.

It is a good thing that the weather will get warmer because I have found that people are more temperamental when they are cold. At least when it is warm you can stand in the sun and have that help lift your mood instead of getting smacked in the face with a nature-made snowball (yes, it happened. No, I don't want to talk about it.) So celebrate this first day of spring with getting a new AR from us here at Delta and plan for that first day that the sun is shining to go out and shoot to your heart's content.

Helping people smile

It is amazing how something simple can affect someone's mood. Whether it be that they get a compliment or that they eat some healthy food. They could have gotten a text or call from someone special or they could have seen a ray of sunshine in an otherwise dark sky.

We here at Delta love to help make our customers smile because it is one of the things that can change a person's mood the fastest. One of the main ways that we help people smile is by hand picking out some of our products that we think you guys will love the most. Make sure to check them out below.

Staying safe

Experiencing something for the first time is a magical feeling. Most of the time. As someone who woke up to their first ever earthquake this morning, let me tell you that it was not a magical feeling. Honestly, I first thought I was dreaming until my husband called me and made sure that I was okay.

It is always a good idea to be prepared when you do something for the first time for whatever could happen. For instance, when you go out shooting for the first time it is a great idea to make sure you have extra ammo and a first aid kit. When you feel an earthquake for the first time, it is a good idea not to brush it off and try to go back to sleep. So, whatever life throws at you, make sure you are prepared and stay safe out there you guys.

Why green?

My coworkers and I were talking about how it seems that no one wears green on St. Patrick's Day anymore at work. Yea, there is one or two, but the majority of the people don't seem to care. They want to save their green for after work when they get to party.

We were curious about why people wore green in the first place, and the reason was as shocking as it was amusing. It was to keep leprechauns from pinching you. Yep! The whole point of looking like someone dumped green paint on you is so that a small legendary creature would not be able to see you. Apparently leprechauns are color blind to green. So, if you feel a pinch and you are nowhere near anyone else and you aren't wearing green, just know that you just had a small character decide that they want to make you the target of their prank. Just because they can.

St. Patrick's Day 2020

I was talking about St. Patrick's Day with my mother-in-law the other day and I had to explain to her about why we celebrate it today. Today is supposedly the day that St. Patrick drove all of the snakes out of Ireland after they attacked him while he was on his 40 day fast up on a hill. He did not like being attacked, so he drove them into the sea and Ireland has not had a serpent since.

She is very much in favor of not having snakes around her at all. She seriously makes other people go in front of her and stomp their feet to chase all the snakes away in the tall grass as if they were pokemon. We here at Delta decided to save you some green today by hand picking out special items that we have for sale for you guys below, so make sure to check it out and stay safe out there on this celebratory day!

Western trick shots

One of my favorite things to do (besides shooting) is to read. There are so many choices out in the world for people who like to escape from reality for a little while and escape into the pages of a book. Some of my personal favorites are western themed books because, not only is it one of my favorite time periods, there are a lot of trick shots that you can try to replicate.

There are many things I have tried due to western books that I absolutely love to do using ARs especially. For instance, shooting a poker chip from x feet away and get it in the center. Or using a playing card. If that is to basic for you, there was a book that mentioned shooting a piece of rope from x feet away. As always, make sure to make sure that there is nothing behind your target, and remember to be safe out there while you are shooting your new AR from Delta Team.

No internet

We were talking in the office the other day about what it would be like to live in a world where there was no internet. Since most of us were born after the internet was made and therefore grew up with it, it was hard for us to imagine. The shock on our director's face when he found out that some of us did not know what dial up was made it a very fun topic.

We are thankful for the internet because now we don't have to read the same magazine over and over while we conduct business on the porcelain throne. It also means that we don't have to wait in long lines at the store for who knows how long to get the upper that we want, because we can just open up Delta Team Tactical's website and order our favorite AR parts from the comfort of our own beds. What more could you ask for than that?

Similarities

I was talking to a cousin the other day and we starting talking about how our similar our jobs are. Sure, there is not much in common between farming and marketing, but we quickly found similarities.

One of the major similarities that we found was that we both need our basic tools. For him it is a plow, tractor, and water. For myself, it was my amazing marketing team, computer and a camera. We both figured out pretty quickly that we both needed a lot of knowledge in our fields, and that we both love serving the different communities. There are many things we can learn in life, if we only have the determination to listen.
