The Aegis AR-9 is a compact 9mm pistol kit with a 7.5-inch barrel, a 7-inch minimalist M-LOK rail and an SB Tactical SBA5 brace. It is a full build kit, so the upper, 9mm bolt carrier group, charging handle, lower parts kit, brace and 9mm buffer system all come together. The lower receiver itself is not part of the kit, so you supply your own stripped lower. Everything else on the parts list below comes in one order.

Barrel and Muzzle

The barrel is the "Akali," a 7.5-inch 9mm HBAR made from 4150 CrMoV steel and finished in phosphate, with a 1:10 twist. As a blowback pistol-caliber setup there is no gas block or gas tube. The muzzle is threaded 1/2x36. The muzzle wears a 9mm A2 birdcage flash hider, installed with a crush washer.

Upper Receiver and Handguard

The upper receiver is a 7075-T6 aluminum AR-15 upper with M4 feed ramps and an anodized finish. The forward assist and an ejection port door with its rod and spring come with it. A JE Machine 7-inch ultra-lightweight minimalist M-LOK handguard covers the barrel. It is black anodized aircraft-grade aluminum and free floats the barrel.

Bolt Carrier Group and Charging Handle

The bolt carrier group is a 9mm blowback BCG in nitrided 8620 steel with an external extractor. It works with both Glock and Colt pattern magazines. A mil-spec M4 charging handle rounds out the top end, so the controls feel like any other AR-15. Both come ready to drop into the upper.

Lower Parts, Brace and Buffer System

The lower parts kit is a complete 31-piece mil-spec set with a standard curved trigger, so the fire control group, controls, pins and springs are all covered. The stock rides on a heavy-duty mil-spec 6-position buffer tube machined from 6061 aluminum. Because 9mm runs on blowback, it gets a heavier 5.7 oz. solid steel 9mm buffer. A carbine recoil spring made in the USA goes with it. A mil-spec end plate and castle nut finish off the buffer system. Out back is an SB Tactical SBA5 pistol stabilizing brace in black nylon-reinforced polymer, which fits a mil-spec carbine buffer tube.
