Davidson Defense AR-15 "Panhead" Billet Upper Receiver
Upper Receivers mount and house the barrel, handguard, and gas system in an AR-15 or LR-308/AR-10. Custom upper receivers vary from Side Chargers, and Skeletonized uppers, to Rigidity Reinforced or 'Lite' receivers, where certain features such as the forward assist and brass deflector are removed to streamline the design. This also applies to most Pistol Caliber Carbine upper receivers with special ejection door cuts made specific for 9mm or .45ACP.
About this Upper: The Davidson Defense "Panhead" AR-15 Billet Upper Receiver design was influenced by the iconic Panhead chopper motorcycles, a motor that was popular from the late 1940s and stayed in production until the mid-1960s. Panheads are known for having a unique ascetic, as well as being functional. The classic styling of these bikes that are equipped with the Panhead motor has become timeless and they also have been modified and customized to fit the customers' needs and desires. This is a very appropriate metaphor for an AR-15, especially a billet upper receiver. AR-15's like chopper motorcycles are constantly being modified to fit the customers' needs and wants. So it made sense to derive design inspiration from a product that people interact with the same way.
Material: 6061-T6 Aluminum - 6061-T6 Aluminum resembles the strength of the more common 7075-T6 aluminum found on original AR-15/M4 pattern rifles. 6061-T6 has excellent strength and workability and was adopted for use in the commercial AR-15 market as it showed high strength and corrosion resistance during firearms testing.
Style: Precision machined from a solid block of 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum the Panhead AR-15 billet upper boasts a sleek and clean design, that doesn't comprise structural integrity while maintaining a slimmer profile for weight reduction. To maintain corrosion resistance the Panhead is treated with a Type 3 hardcoat anodizing. Additionally, the Panhead fits a traditional Mil-Spec ejection port door.
Finish: Anodized - This upper receiver is anodized, this process increases the thickness and hardness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of the metal parts. This increases the corrosion and wear resistance of the Upper Receiver.
Caliber Compatibility: This upper receiver will work with standard rifle cartridges such as .223 Remington, 5.56 NATO, .300 Blackout, 6.5 Grendel, 7.62x39, 9mm Luger, and .350 Legend. This will also work with 9mm Pistol Caliber Carbines.
Top Section: Flat Top Rail - This upper receiver features a full 1913 Picatinny rail for the additional Optics installation and Iron Sight installation.
Anti-Rotation Tab Compatibility: This upper receiver will NOT allow the installation of handguards with anti-rotation tabs incorporated into their design.
