There are three main types of muzzle devices for your weapon: flash suppressors/flash hiders, muzzle brakes, and compensators. AR-15’s are getting more and more popular every day, partially due to their low recoil and muzzle rise. But with a good muzzle brake, recoil can be reduced even more. With a good compensator, muzzle rise significantly drops, almost vanishing. And while muzzle flash cannot be completely eliminated, it can be significantly reduced with a quality flash hider. These muzzle devices are growing increasingly more popular due to how easy they are to put on, 5-10 minutes with the right tool, because of their incredible efficiency, and because they make a cool looking gun.
About This Muzzle Device: Sound Forwarder/Flash Hider - What are the benefits of using a Sound Forwarder?: A sound forwarder on an AR-15 redirects the sound and concussion away from the shooter and downrange. This creates the illusion that the weapon is quieter due to the sound traveling forward toward the target instead of back toward the shooter or out to the sides. They do not silence or suppress the sound of the gunshot like a suppressor does.
What are the benefits of using a Flash Hider?: Reduced muzzle flash reduces the visible muzzle flash that occurs when firing a gun. Improved night shooting allows the shooter to not be blinded by their own muzzle flash. In military and hunting situations, concealing of the shooters position is critical. Flash hiders help redirect hot gases that exit the barrel, reducing wear on the muzzle and slowing down erosion which may extend the life of your AR-15 or barrel.
Threading: 1/2x28 Is a common thread type for muzzle devices made for .22 caliber projectiles, commonly found on AR-15 barrels chambered in .223 Wylde, 5.56 NATO, and including .224 Valkyrie.
Finish: Manganese Phosphate - Manganese Phosphate finishes are used on barrels to protect against corrosion and wear. Manganese Phosphate finish is considered for its toughness, and is used in multiple different applications such as aerospace, ordnance, and other firearms-related parts.
