The extended oversized latches cover both sides of the charging handle body, providing equal latch access for left and right-hand operation. Standard charging handles offer a single small latch on the left side only, limiting manipulation speed and making right-hand operation awkward. The extended latch geometry increases the contact surface available during a charging stroke for faster and more positive manipulation under stress.
